Hookah Lounge Ventilation?

Recommended Posts

I have been looking seriously into starting a hookah lounge lately. I found a great place for it, great location and size for it. The problem I am having is the landlord is questioning the use of smoke in the establishment. The building that I am looking at has a structure similar to that of apartments (best way to describe it), I know there are other places like it. Attorneys have office upstairs and mail center in another part.

The question I have is will the hookah smoke effect the brand new sheet rock he put in? Also is there any suggestions on ventilation to keep the smoke away from the other areas?

I just got back from meeting him and my mind is a little frazzled, so if you have any questions about what I am trying to ask I understand.

Thanks

A smoke eater will put all questions to rest if necessary - otherwise get ready to educate your prop manager a bunch before you go anywhere (quickly disapating smoke, does not linger etc) Edited by 40 Thieves

For a small place like that (1000 sq ft?) I believe you can get a good air filter (smoke eater) that will get the job done, and even make your shop the cleanest smelling room there! There are some (expensive, but prolly cheaper than a new ventilation system) air purifiers that are used in hospitals to actually serialize the air; they destroy smoke. these would also help prevent molds from growing in the obviously high humidity environment. With some google-ing, you should be able to find just what you need, just search for air purifiers and add hospital or medical to find the good one's.

Cigar Aficionado did a review on a few last year. Four men smoked cigars in an office sized room then let the air purifier run for an hour iirc and returned to the room and said that they could not smell a hint of the cigar! I'll see if I can't find the articles and get you the names of the purifiers if you'd like...

What were you saying about quickly disapating smoke? Im not that familiar with how smoke is and what not. I guess I need to google some more and get an information packed for him.

Thanks guys, keep them coming.
