my house has a hookah like that in a 3 hole flavor. and i gotta say it SUCKS. it may have just been a bad apple but it came leaking REALLY badly and it still doesnt smoke all that well with the leaks sealed. also one of the hose ports not only leaks but is loose and rattles around, and a hose sprung a leak after a week.

the bowl it comes with is also terrible. if you get that one you *NEED* a new bowl. the one they give you burns tobacco easily and doesnt allow for a long session at all.. 30-60 minutes MAX.

I dont get why non-arab websites still call the hookahs stainless steel when there is no actual steel involved.
SS stands for Social Smoke. I don't see that they are saying it's stainless.

I don't really know what being Arab or not has anything to do with this, but the majority of Egyptian Hookahs in general and in particular the ones we sell are infact Hand Formed Stainless steel. I have been to egypt to the factories and have witness the workers take flat sheets of stainless steel and form them into the shapes you see on the stem. Actually, on a visit to our office about a year or two ago, Lakemonster saw a video that I took in a Hookah factory in Egypt of a worker forming the metal peices.

With that said, in Egypt as well as in Syrian and Jordan, etc they also make solid brass hookahs. these are also popular, but we do not carry these models.

The downtube on the other hand, may or may not be Stainless Steel. We always order 100% stainless steel Egyptian hookahs, but the reality is that recently in Egypt the Stainless Steel tubes have been in short supply and sometimes they switch to using a brass down stem. Hopefully this will not be an issue within the next few months.

I brought it up because I have had several deallings with middle eastern people and they seem to have a different defenition of stainless steel. Aparently any metal covered in chrome is stainless steel to them. However if social smoke says its real SS all the better. That would be absolutely excellent.

Scarecrow brings up a really good point. I have had the same findings in regards to many people saying that their hookahs are Stainless Steel when they are not. Honestly, I think the majority of the time its out of ignorance not intentional misleading.

For the most part:
Majority if not all MYA hookahs are Brass with a Plated finish, this includes QT's
Majority if not all Chinese Hookahs are Brass with a plated finish
Majority of Syrian hookahs are Brass with a plated finish but I have seen Syrian hookahs that are part or all SS
Egyptian Hookahs go both ways as they make them in a variety of styles, actually I've seen some that are a combination of Solid brass and hand formed stainless steel

p.s.

so if Social Smoke is saying that almost all hookah's arent stainless...how come all the stems on the egypitian hookah's on the s.s. site say the are made from hand formed stainless steel...

and, if you have seen my topic regarding RUST on my girlfriends cheap $30 hookah, and someone told me it was because it was CHEAP... then what is that cheap $30 hookah made OF compared to a $60 S.S. hookah that SHOULD NOT rust, since it is not a cheap $30 hookah from a local smoke shop?

uncoated steel? all i know is that my socialsmoke hookah doesnt rust. ive even left water in it for like 3 weeks (i wasnt smoking much then) and nothing happened. stainless steel is steel mixed with chromium. its resistant to rusting, though it still can rust. often its dipped in chrome to further prevent rusting.

i dont see why the stainless stem is a problem. brass stems work just fine and wont rust either, though they will tarnish if not kept clean.
and like Socialsmoke said, myas and all the rest of the hookahs you see are generally made of brass or a mix of brass and stainless. its not a big deal. noones ever accused myas of being crappy (far from it) and they use coated brass for their hookahs. it works great!

Socialsmoke hookahs are among the best in the industry. You can be confidant in ordering from them.

and dubstyle...
"so if Social Smoke is saying that almost all hookah's arent stainless...how come all the stems on the egypitian hookah's on the s.s. site say the are made from hand formed stainless steel..."

because socialsmoke specially orders ones that are made from hand formed stainless steel... I dont see why thats confusing. Edited by SanguineSolitude
