Hookah foil worth it?

Recommended Posts

Hey guy I'm going to be placing an order soon and I was thinking about picking up some hookah foil.  It come in a 100 pack for 5 bucks.  Can I get the same stuff a a grocery store?  Saveing money is a big plus in my book so if I can get more at a grocery store and just chop it up for my own use I would be happy. So if you guys use foil let me know where you get it from and what kind it is.  Note I'm also getting a screen but I want to try both.
Thanks

Just get the hookah foil if you can afford it,  it's less time
consuming than chopping it up yourself, and it's nice and
thin which will help your tobacco evaporate better than
store-bought.  Store-bought is thicker foil.  Trust me,
you'll be happy you got the hookah foil.  I just placed a shisha
& charcoal order,  and included 5 packs of hookah foil.
I got it from: www.SocialSmoke.com for $4.95 a pack.
It's great foil, I've used it many times before and will use it many
times again

actually ive had some success with the metal screen, the way it came it
had too many holes but i covered the top with foil and then punched out
only the holes i wanted so it cets the airflow right at the coal and
not too much random air in unneeded places, it's probably the bowl im
using tho cuz foil has been better with my old bowl

One thing about foils though, I get them for US$1.49 at my local store
for a half-inch stack in a box. Haven't counted, could be 100.
Check your local Arabic markets before ordering online, but I understand a lot of you don't have this option.
If I were rich I would send you all boxes of foil!

I use the screen or foil, but the bowl will last longer with foil for
sure. Especially good when you have quality coals that last over an
hour.

Hookah foils are much thinner than kitchen foil, and I was thinking
also that this means less chemical burning off into your body!

Hey hookah culture where do you live.  I remember you made a comment about drunk ASU students I actually go to ASU and live in Glendale.  I know about the Red Sea Cafe and The Oasis cafe I like both they are the reason I'm here on the board.  Is the local store you are refering to around AZ?
Thanks

SLICERD:
Yeah the local store is just east from the Oasis on Apache (south side of the street) at the Fire Station Signal.
It's called Haji Baba. When you walk in, all the goodies are right there on the left!
TONS of Al Waha. Avoid the Prince brand. They also have Sultan brand
ma'asell, but I haven't tried that. Also avoid those boxed coals with
the minarets on the box, they're total crap. Get the BAGGED coals on
the bottom shelf.
They have hookahs on the top shelf above the window if you look up.
They run about $60! They look to be a good deal, they're a good height.
They also have a counter way in the corner to the right of the tofu cooler.
Regarding the foils, they're in a light blue box about half inch thick
and 6x6 inches square. There's NO ENGLISH ON THE BOX telling you what
they are!
But trust me, they're foils, and they're in the lower shelves as you walk in.
Inspect the hookah items and choose the best one, they're not perfect.

I like Red Sea, you can have a hookah on the patio with a beer from next door.
The owner's a nice guy, and the flavors are good. He serves Chinese
hookahs. The ones I've tried smoked well though. They call the tobacco
SHISHA. Incorrect.
Nice decor, but packed with kids on the weekends. I'm older, see, and don't really fit in. Nice people work there.

Hey Mo,

Make a dent in that pack of foils I sent?
Yeah they're totally convenient!

In related news....I've perfected a hole pattern!!
This is the BEST hole pattern, it works perfectly and is symmetrical
for even consumption. I think any more holes than this with a toothpick
would be counter-productive.

Try it and let me know what you think.

Thanks guys for all the info.  And thanks HookahCulture for the store info.  I already bought a pack of foil but only one so I will be sure to visit the store to get more.  I too like the Red Sea cafe I didnt know you could get smoke on the patio though and get a beer.  Which patio anyway? Is it the one fenced off in front of the club?  I also like oasis but I usually go out side, they have tasty food there so its a nice meal and hookah combo.

Yeah it's the fenced off patio in front of the Devil House.
I used to sit on the park bench they have in there and have a Fat Tire
and hookah, but they don't serve quality beers anymore except Guinness
which I don't think goes very well with a hookah. In fact I don't know
if they even serve Guinness anymore, haven't been there in ages.

Red Sea will hold your license as collateral and check up on you once in a while.
I recommend getting 2 coals lit and one unlit so you can handle it yourself.
It's best to do this when there's not a crowd inside the Red Sea so the
attendant remembers you more often and earns his/her tip!
I think there's a time of day limit for this whole hookah on the patio thing.

Hmm interesting I usually go late at night becuase I'm a night owl.  But if I go during the day or beggining of the evening that would be cool.
The last two times I have driven by the Devel House going to smoke hookah there have been cop cars there but this is about 1 so I guess it gets a little roudy sometimes.

It cost about 2 bucks with tax for 100 foils, someone of them even have
pre made holes. It cost maybe 3-5 bucks for a box of
alluminum foil for about 50 sq ft. That would be alot mro ethan 100
foils if I decided to cut it up.  It takes 3 seconds to rip
a good sized square off the 50 sq ft sheet and about 5 seconds to poke
10-5 small holes in the foil.   SO its not THAT much extra work to
use regular foil you find at a store than hookah foils. And I think you
get alot more foil for your money buying regular foil. So to me I think
buying regular foil is worth more than hookah foil. I have used hookah
foils and as handy as they are( they save maybe 10 seconds of hookah
loading time) youre paying alot more for the same amount of foil me
thinks.
