Finally Getting Into A House...

Here is a quick shot of the living room we just finished- pebble gray with one wall coral. Wanting to get one of those TV stands that has a built in electric fireplace to go in place of the gas heater. :P [attachment=6458:ImageUploadedByTapatalk1378875863.198274.jpg]

Haha, I guess that depends on the wife, Nate. I'd be cool with it, obviously. We've been hella busy... Trying to finish it up so we can move in our stuff in a week (next weekend). We hit a setback though... We discovered underneath the ugly carpet in the hallway and three bedrooms really nice hardwood. It's already finished, but showing some dark spots in places in two of the bedrooms. We got all the carpet out today along with the staples and tack strips (man are those a bitch). Just finished mopping the floors. Tomorrow we are picking up some sandpaper for my father-in-law's belt sander and are going to sand down the two rooms, then stain all the wood and polyurethane it. It'll be a chore, but hey, it's the last thing to do for the most part!

Oh there will still be carpet in the den, which is basically going to be our party room when we have guests over. It's a big add-on that was built 25 years ago. It's about 2 maybe 3 times larger than the living room. We decided that other than parties (or me smoking hookah), we won't use the room. Saves us on utilities, which is easy because that room isn't on the central heat/air. It has a window AC unit and a gas heater. I'll try to take pics later.

Finally, we're on to staining! After this, only some touch-up painting and general cleaning left to do. Bought new showerheads, got our couch from my mom in Memphis... Running right on schedule to move in this weekend, I believe.

We may buy it someday, as we've really fallen in love with the place.

Yes, the hookah room is amazeballs. Wife said I can smoke in there all I want. :D

Turns out because of all the hard work we put into this place- cleaning it out, painting, removing the carpet, sanding/staining the wood floors, etc. - we don't owe anything for rent until November! Tried to get utilities swapped over to my name this morning but I needed a rent receipt... my landlord is going to forge one so I can get that taken care of. Did some research and determined Time Warner would be our best option for internet. $34/mo for 15 Mbps. Can't beat that I guess. They're coming tomorrow to set up the wireless router and all that jazz.

Slept in the house last night... Slept like a baby. It was a SUPER busy weekend doing the final fix-ups and then moving all of our shit in. Last night we got the bed set up and all the dishes out, ran to Wal-Mart to get some copies of the key made along with a frozen pizza, ate, and went to bed.

Speaking of the bed... My grandparents went to an estate sale and found a practically brand new king size bed w/ frame. Got it for us as a housewarming gift! We're pretty stoked. We get it this weekend.

Speaking of this weekend... We're having a little party to celebrate moving in. :)

Thanks guys. You're all invited to this weekend's shindig of course, but I know none of you will show up.

Time Warner came by and installed our internet. Took the guy 15 minutes since there was already a cable line ran that was easy access and a central location in the house. I pay $34.99/mo for up to 15 Mbps.I ran a speed test several times few hours apart and consistently got around 12 download, 1 upload. I'm EXTREMELY satisfied with that, considering I was only getting 1-2 download when I lived in Murfreesboro paying about the same price!

Got utilities swapped over to my name... $50 deposit. No biggie. Apparently I have good credit, lol.

Stayed up until 1AM putting together our new TV stand... looks bangin'. I got the TV set up with the Roku box, PS3, and DVD player. Need to set up my surround sound next, and set up my HP laptop for my PlayOn server to stream my shows. Tonight I WILL watch the Dexter finale!!!

Gotta finish unpacking all of our boxes that are in the den/party room, fix a crap couch I picked up from my dad in Memphis (piece of wood is poking out of the bottom, hopefully it'll fix or else I will just throw it out), and set up the party room. So this room will have a big table, four chairs, a couch, a recliner, a comfy chair. Perfect for a hookah gathering! The living room off of the kitchen is our fancier setting, with a nice couch and two leather recliners. Saturday we get our king size bed in. Got a kitchen island that I've got to put together sometime this week... Things are coming along nicely, I believe.

It finally feels like home. I actually had time this morning to shave, which felt amazing... I had grown quite the beard over the past ~2 weeks. Inspired me to partake in No Shave November this year, because I actually rather liked it. I just had to shave for some reason, though.
