The Definitive Music For Smoking Hookah Thread!

Wow, I haven't even thought about listening to music while smoking right now...My wife and I smoke outside since we can't smoke indoors (we rent) and it's usually when our baby daughter's asleep..

If we did listen to something, I'd probably want to throw on some Donald Byrd. His Black Byrd album is a CLASSIC. Quintessential chill music in my opinion. My wife would be digging on some Beatles for sure.

when im at home i listen to nothing.

when i host my shisha night with my buddy at the nightclub we have a few djs playing trance/house/techno. later in the night we turn down the house lights and turn on the club lights and some people start dancing while the rest of us smoke. fun times.

Hmmmm welp it depends...

If i am smoking alone or with a few select people:
SOJA
Marley
Sublime
Say Anything
Dream Theater
Jack's Mannequin
Silence - Just sit smoke chit-chat and listen to the hookah
sometimes I will youtube random shit while smoking

If I am with a large group of people it usually doesnt matter as much...
whatever music is on already
TV
Movies
--I find the more people I smoke with for a session the more everyone talks and the background doesnt really matter

PSU Smoker nice to see another Dream Theater fan!
Although I prefer the older albums (well 'older', everything before 'Systamatic Chaos' was released :P ). What do you think of their last album?

i'm more into heavier music but appreciate some good hip hop. Give Atmosphere a try, he's got some sick songs(guns and cigarettes, bass and the movement, modern man's hustle, blame game) and even though some of the songs are rather overplayed i can listen to Cudi's most recent album straight through. Other than that Deftones, Butch Walker, Isles & Glaciers, Thrice and old TBS.....OH and the Requiem soundtrack...

For those who enjoy reggae and dub; I recently came across a great band, 10 Ft. G. Plant. They have great roots reggae and very psychedelic dub :perfect10: !

Here is a bunch of songs I really love:

Rebel in the Hills
Two Bulls
Hillside Airstrip
Your Voice
Head Shrinker
Wailin'
Blues Dance
(you should at least listen to 'Kneel at the Feet' and 'Your Voice' :) )

Just too bad it's sort of a mysterious group of musicians. Many guest artists and little performances, I can't find any tour information whatsoever :( .

For me the music of the late sixties, particularly The Dead, The eagle, Flying burritos, commander cody etc,

If I am in a meditative mood,Classical indian ragas,Ravi Shankar, Ali Akbar Khan, Nusrat fateh Ali Khan and other Qawwali stuff. Hamza al Din's Oud, George Mgrdichian's oud

And there is always Tinariwen a Tuareg Rock band. Ibrahim learned guiter in one Qaddifi's training camp during the Tuareg uprising in the 90's It actually gets bit bluesy

I'm a fan of Classical and relaxing music while I smoke.... Though every now and again I like some Hard Core Techno or this..though for smoking we do the instrumental.
http://www.youtube.c...feature=related - Original
http://www.youtube.c...feature=related - Instrumental

We have played the Instrumental for about three hours on playback while we smoked...and if you have the mp3 it's like the never ending story it just goes on and on and on :Hookah:

But now I usually smoke alone so I just sit at my computer with movies...and now Netflix ^.^ LOVE MY NETFLIX

Good stuff. I feel like anything that you can absorb and listen to but still hear your own thoughts through would be good. Or a good mixtape.
Perhaps a grand hookah mix is in order.
