Everyone has their own different methods and I'm not saying that any is better than another, but, yes actually I am. I am a master of the dremel. I took 3 before and after shots of polishing on pipe that, as far as I know, has never been polished. I'm not certain how old the KM Basha is, but it's got some age on it. This is so some of you who don't polish can understand the difference it makes. Enjoy. I accidentally placed it with the hose port facing the wrong way in the second set though. But, I wanted to ensure the lighting, framing, exposure and everything was the same in both sets so that you could accurately compare the before and after. When you are using a dremel and metal polish, the polish and the felt wheel will quickly turn black. Just make sure you are running the dremel over every piece of metal. A polish like this, you are cleaning it, removing oxidization, so don't think about it like you're trying to work the polish in, but rather strip off any oxidization. Speaking of that, if you use this method on oxidized metal, it will remove the oxidization (like black/brown KM's). I have done this before to strip it down to the copper and it works great, it just takes a really long time. Anyways, I work the pipe in sections so the polish doesn't dry out on the metal. Polish it and then use paper towel/rag to wipe off any remaining/excess polish. Once I've done the whole pipe, I spend a bit of time with clean cloths polishing it by hand, just removing any excess polish that may remain. Then, take it to the sink and wash the whole thing with liquid dish soap and then use some clean soft cloths to do a final wipe down on it (without using polish). Also, do this outside or in your garage and wear safety glasses if you can. The dremel will "spit" metal polish off of it. Once you have done it a while, you learn how to angle the pipe and dremel to make sure it's always spitting down, but it can still catch you off guard if you're not focused. mattarios2 Posted November 29, 2012 Share Posted November 29, 2012 I just use carnuba wax but there is a wax made for metals and what not. The most popular seem to be "metalwax" and collinite. But I find any car carnuba wax from autozone or any car place works just fine. I find during the summer when it is extremely humid where I live instead of a polish only lasting one to two weeks it can last 2 months.
