So, How Is Aladin?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

since I can see Aladin pipes everywhere with so many models (mostly Aladin Evolution has sh-tload of different pipes), I wanted to ask - what do you think about it? Apparently, it is very successful brand, but I can't see any knowledgeable smokers use them. Are they the "beginner" brand, or what? They look quite nice and whatnot, but it looks like nobody here is interested in them.

What's the deal?

I can definitely vouch for the fact that they are popular, at least on the Czech market. 80% of all hookahs you can get there are Aladin. And as I said, new Evolution category looks quite nice, have a look if you don't know about it-

And yeah, KMs are impossible to get, at least in Czech Republic, there are not any.

I looked them up when you mentioned them before and, near as I can tell, you can't get them in the United States which is why there probably isn't much of a mention of them. We'd have to have them shipped internationally, it would be like you going to Hookah-Shisha.com and ordering a KM.

Yeah, here on Hookah Forum they pop up occasionally by inquiry, just like you, but majority of the members are not familiar with them because most HF members live in the United States. I believe Magick on here is familiar with Aladdin and can help give you some insight on how they are. It's worth noting that during my time here, I haven't seen anyone talk crap about Aladdin when it was indeed mentioned, if I recall correctly.

Well, last I heard he was living in Agrabah with Jasmin, the monkey, the bird voice by gilbert godfried, and occasionally entertaining the genie....oh wait, different Aladdin.

I haven't personally used an Aladin pipe - mine are Egyptian - but I've bought a number of their accessories and have been entirely satisfied. They seem to be a big, German manufacturer / importer / distributor, who commission and stock some good quality accessories.

The reason you don't hear much about them here is a barrier of language and location; they are a German company and you'll find them all over German and Austrian (and Czech, we learn) shisha sites. Aladin products barely make it to the UK, and we're supposedly part of Europe. The great majority of users here are in the US, where the market for cheap, durable, robust pipes is filled by Mya - however their stuff looks expensive when you import it into Europe. From what I've seen, I'd have no reservations about buying an Aladin pipe, but don't be tempted by the multi-hose ones.

As with just about any other mainstream pipe, your Aladin pipe will likely benefit from better bowls and hoses than it is supplied with, but everything I've had from them has been of good quality. I'd say if you're in mainland Europe, go for it; they are your local specialists. Those in the know import their accessories over here at some cost; on the mainland it would be a no-brainer to stock Aladin.

I'm glad I found this conversation! I happen to have an Aladin pipe (if you're curious which: http://www.shishashop.co.uk/Aladin-Shisha-Koufy-L-56-cm-Red ) and what can I say? Pros and cons!

Pros:
- plate is HUGE! It's impossible to drop your coals and burn your carpet
- you can take it apart. Literally, you can unscrew every part of it! Someone would say this is a bad thing but I promise you the seals are bullet proof. This makes it easy to wash Aladin pipe and pack it if you want to take it somewhere.
- the valve can be changed to a hose port
- ball inside the valve is not made out of metal (it's made out of hard plastic, I think...) so it can't rust
- you can beat someone with the body 'cause it's so tough. You can't break it.

Cons:
- They look pretty cheap....well this is just my opinion but what I mean is they look like factory made. So if you want to respect the origin of hookah and so far then you should get something more appealing to the eyes
- hose is not very good. Well, it's better than maya regular hose but still far from nammor...(I think you could wash the aladin hose 'cause it seems like a leather hose so maybe this should be a pro instead of a con....)
- the bowl is WEAK! Epic fail...It's like the unglazed maya bowl which sucks big time.

So overall, it's a decent product, not perfect but still pretty good. Like magick777 predicted you should get a better hose and bowl and then you are all set!
