I started making a hose last night with nearly the same parts delSol_si used (using an extra nammor mouthpiece I picked up from HJ), but after it was constructed I realized it was lacking a proper handle and came here.

I ended up using a 1/2" ID black vinyl hose with 2 1/2" ID PVC adapters, an 8" PVC pipe for the handle, and nylon barbs for the hose and mouthpiece.
I would like to put a different mouthpiece on it but will have to find something to fit over the barb properly.

I was basically going for something simple but attractive, and I think it came out decently for a couple hours' work. The draw on this hose is fantastic.

Also hey first post. Started lurking this forum awhile back when I was deciding on whether to buy a Pharonie stem (I did, right before HJ sold out of them) and finally decided to sign up. Seems like a great group of knowledgeable people around here.

I like that black one..wouldn't mind putting together something like that with some kind of silver thread/yarn laced into it..but im lazy :)

Real nice man. I always thought hoses could be cheaper and designed smarter but never tried making one myself. I'm messing around with parts to make a dishwasher safe hookah atm but i'm not too experienced in using tools.

It was surprisingly easy to put together with no prior experience. I always use the H-S washable hoses but I wanted to see if I could pull together a DIY solution using delSol_si's thread and it didn't take long at all or cost much of anything. I would like to try doing a more complex design with my next one, but this time around the crisscross designs felt too complex once I got down to actually working on it..

Yep, sadly he won't be able to respond. We still keep in touch and I can tell you that he doesn't really make them anymore because he's so busy with his woman and school. I have one of his hose handles and it's all I use. Friggin' fantastic.

Hey!! It wasn't that old a thread now was it? :P

I just wish I had been around the time he was making these and was on the forum. I saw the video of how to make em but as much as I like my country, we are just so disorganized. Hardware stores are just nothing but completely scattered all over within themselves and everything you're looking for needs to be described like "a plastic pipe that looks like this and that" and "a plastic piece that connects pipes and stuff".

Went out today but couldn't find those parts for the life of me! :|

USA, Home Depot, and Lowe's ftw. Haha.

Sorry you couldn't find the parts you needed. Maybe try looking for them online?

Well I am trying but no luck so far...and while looking for stuff, I found out that chains like Home depot, lowe's, Walmart and Ikea have been trying to negotiate with our govt for years to let em open their stores here, but the stupid govt. has some kind of a policy that requires foreign companies to operate on a joint venture with one of the Indian companies. Stupid buttplugs say that it somehow prevents the smaller family run business from going out of business, beats me how though.

Govt. policies my ass! We got enough chains here selling useless stuff, we can use some lowe's I tell you. I hope it happens...till then, keep bragging. :P

Well, they would do it even if they create a joint venture with one of the local companies (required to own a 49% stake in the venture). So what's the point? We have our companies running retail chains selling everything from shoes to clothes to fruits and stuff (pretty much everything apart from the hardware supplies), and I bet they are putting people out of business just as much.

A company selling that too wouldn't effect the small businesses anyway because as I said, none of the hardware retailers even know what the parts are once I tell em what I'm looking for, I've been to almost a dozen stores since I saw this thread and each time they look at me as if I'm asking for rocket science equipment. :-s

Hell, if you can't run a business well, then may be it deserves to be taken out! The govt just can't make up it's damn mind to whether run a socialist economy or a capitalist one, and we consumers have to bear the brunt.

I'll leave it at that now because this discussion doesn't suit here but man am I pissed.

I haven't been to India, but I have a feeling they're doing it for good reason... Let me put it this way- India, China, etc... These countries are huge exporters. Meaning they make money. The US is a huge IMPORTER, meaning we don't make shit here anymore and we're all spoiled with Wal-Mart, Home Depot, etc. The US's economy ain't doing too hot. India's is booming, along with China and others. So yeah, there's a reason why your gov doesn't want it.
