I've had some bad dealings with Neal in the past so there is doubt that HD is done....I myself am no longer a member there.

Here is one of Neal's rants from January, when I stopped in to pick up some tongs when I was going down to San Diego cause I had forgotten them...
Neal freaking out...I just wanted tongs

Now that's beautiful. Soemone should post liks to that on hd.
and send a link to all HD advertisers.

I will have to watch that video in its entirety at home. Too much noise to watch at work.

My repost of John's post got deleted but I am not banned....maybe I should repost again?

That video...wow.

I have an account on HD just so I can tune in and watch it deteriorate. Good stuff.

Ahh, the proverbial 'I just wanted a pack of gum, so I walked into my sworn enemy's shop and for some reason he got angry." I don't know who this guy is, but that video is probably not the best choice for showing the world what a douche he is. He might be the biggest jerk in the world, but that video only shows me a random shop owner being harassed by his rivals.

If I walk into some shop, and the owner told me to leave, I would not stand there arguing with him. I'd turn around and walk out. If there was some big history of enmity, as appears to be the case in that video, I wouldn't walk in in the first place - certainly not on the pretense of being a 'regular paying customer wanting the cheapest thing in the store."

This whole 'American hookah scene' thing is really turning me off. It's like a comic book convention in the worst way, with all the immature rivalries, and everybody and his brother trying to be some kind of 'business man.' I can't even poke my head into the shoutbox without some stranger trying to 'hook me up' with some deal like a street pimp. It seems like nobody can smoke the damn pipe without immediately trying to find some way to 'make a buck' from it, and immediately running into fights with competitors.

Other 'communities' I frequent aren't this seedy. People on boat-building forums may differ in their favorite glue, but they don't all immediately start 'affiliate programs' selling the stuff. The plywood folks don't act like a rival street-gang or nightclub owner when dealing with the fiberglass folks. etc...

This has been bugging me since gettng into hookah, and this kind of thing just brings it to the surface. Why is it that hookah seems less and less like a thing you enjoy smoking, and more and more like a ground-level entrepeneurial business opportunity in a cut-throat world of trashy, low-class jerkoff young punk gangsters fighting over turf? Even the 'trade' section on this site is filled with more greed than I am used to seeing in a year elsewhere - and I picked this site because it was the one 'clearest' of all the greedy noise. Yet here it is again.

Ugh.

so... for those of us fairly new to the online hookah scene, what's the background story of all this drama (the short version, of course)?

Neal is a vendor, banned on most forums, who is a seedy character. Started e-buff with members from various forums. Personally, I have nothing against him, except for the fact that when I tried to buy something expensive from him, and inquired about it, he never got back to me and I never placed an order. He had a some problems with people getting wrong orders, nothing shipped on time...

What are you talking about? I've been here for almost a year now, and there have been no disturbances aside from ones started by this one person, Neal.

Greed in the trade section? Let me assure you, greed is not limited to hookah users. For every greedy person trying to rip you off on this forum, there are 10 people who would send you a free hookah if you broke yours. I'm not going to hunt it down for you, but a few months ago someone posted that his hookah was stolen from his car, and 15 people offered to send him theirs. Ended up it was just a misunderstanding, but nonetheless, my point stands.

People are upset at Neal and HD because they are out of money. A lot of people put up money for Mini Phunnels, and I have not heard anything about Jake shipping them out. He has, on multiple occasions, collected hookahs and shisha from vendors by saying he was going to raffle them off, and then kept him for himself. If you want to point fingers and call people greedy, start over there. Every single person who I have seen on this forum (the ones that stay longer than a few weeks at least) is a kind, caring individual.

And the final counterpoint to your greed comment: Can you even name the hookah company that opperates this forum? I wasn't aware of it until recently. If this forum was truly a bastion of greed like you would suggest, you would see "BROUGHT TO YOU BY HOOKAHKINGS.COM" written in every banner.

Exactly. I don't see how the video proves anyone's point other than the point that vendors selling the same thing don't get along too well....

I have not viewed the video yet but I will when I get home. I made an order with neal a few weeks before he was banned.

It's the age of the Internet, which can be very good or very bad for venders. A local shop can open an online store and suddenly have customers all over the world. But if you piss off one customer they can go online and write a negitive review. Perspective buyers read the reviews, and suddenly you are loosing sales.
I have not viewed the video but I can assume what it will be. I don't know how any one could yell at a customer. I've worked retail for 4 years and there has been many times that I've wanted too. But you don't because now expecally with the Internet, one bad review can cost you a ton of sales. You have to be a respectable seller. Neal has shot himself in the foot.

so just checked all my recent posts have been deleted yet no ban following man he is a controlling freak he also just posted this

"Now as for HJ getting his post deleted and his ass removed.

First off his post was calling everyone on HD my bitch and Jake my bitch. I am sorry but I was married and got rid of her also. I have no Bitches. HJ is just mad because he wanted to buy HD and was turned down. He is also mad at HC and said Eric at Tangiers is George at Hookah companies bitch also. Not sure where he learned such an American phrase from but he is using it well.

I will let you know this I would have addressed his post. A mod deleted the post. I was lucky enough to get to read it in an email sent to me. It was gone before I could respond to it.

Why did I personally ban (Yea I did it) Hookah John?
Because he was asked to remove the name Chronic Hookah from his user id. I flat banned the guy with the name "Chronic". I want to be as fair as I can possilby be to everyone Vendors and members alike. They are what makes HD the great place it is. On the other hand come on gave him 24 hours. But waited over 3 days for a change all he had to do was change his user id to his new site name. Yea the same user id he uses out of respect for the other 3 forums he hangs out on. I see what he did as just a way to show defiance. Sad if you ask me. But then again I am not in his head. maybe he was just being lazy." all said by neal

High 5!

However, why are we even going here with Neal? It's much more effective to simply walk away from Toxic people.
