Boricua Posted March 13, 2009 Share Posted March 13, 2009 Hey peeps,So I'm home for spring break and I ordered a Mya QT from MNH. I got a starter kit with hookah, coals, etc. Except MNH forgot to send me my coals. Now I'm staring at my brand new Mya, my 3 packs of AF, etc but not coals to smoke it with.... Any ideas out there for home made stuff that might be a substitute for coals? Also, there are no hookah shops close to me so I can't just go out and buy some Your help will be greatly appreciated. My ex brought it back from Egypt back in '06, it came free with one of the hookahs she bought.No idea how these work of they're even worth it. They feel a bit flimsy. ryno Posted March 14, 2009 Share Posted March 14, 2009 You can find natural lump charcoal in the grill section of most stores. Make sure its not the briquettes, most will say on the box. Just make sure its 100% natural. I don't recommend it, but.. *shrug* A friend of mine used to use them for his, but he lit the hell out of them (like 20 min lighting on the stove on high heat) before using them. He also split them in half length-wise first before heating. No one else wanted to take the first puffs on them.. lol. Once they got going, they were okay. Boricua Posted March 15, 2009 Author Share Posted March 15, 2009 Thanks for the various answers. I eventually got a buddy of mine to buy me 2 rolls of coal one of the only smoke shops around. They sell crappy Swift-Lites (see review in Coal review section). It's always a rip-off at that place. They charge $10 for one single roll of crappy coals (about 8-10 pieces).
