My Minis came in today! I am acclimating some Tangiers for a proper break-in. They are so beautiful and small!

MINI PHUNNEL WOO! It's hard to believe they are actually here.

Did you enjoy the lil something extra???

I absolutely did! Being part of the Oatmeal Cult certainly has its benefits. I'll smoke out of one while eating out of the other!

Id say since it is a phunnel use the same packing method as u do it's larger brothers. I usually use the scoop method which the man himself uses. I'll let you know soon

Any special tips I should keep in mind when packing tangiers in these sucker?

I use snoopy's method and it works perfectly. As for the coals on tangiers use 2 on the edges to start things off. But on the second round of coals just use one with a windcover.

Pics of first mini phunnel session with my bro and best friends! We smoked a bowl of AF Cola and a bowl of SB Blue Mist. Both were incredible. Two HC coconut coals to start on the edges...when they burned down, pushed em together and added a fresh coal. Heat management was sooooooo easy. We smoked each bowl for over an hour and a half and there was still juicy shisha left but we had to switch flavors, then it got to be 2am and we had to quit.....

I LOVE THIS BOWL!!!!

And they all said thanks IV!! smile.gif

I just broke in one of my Minis with a little Kashmir Cherry, and I must say that I am in love.

Oddly enough, my Tangiers stash knew that this was a special day. Every single flavor I set out earlier was perfectly acclimated and ready to go, just hoping for a chance to be the first smoke out of this legendary bowl.

Firstly, packing: I used Snoopy's method (which I have used with my small for a while), but something curious happened. Since I am accustomed to packing my small phunnel, I went through the motions of packing about as much as a small holds, only to realize that I was holding a real, authentic Tangiers Mini in my hands. Simply put - I packed too much! Having to take Tangiers out of a phunnel was a shockingly awesome experience.

I foiled and did three rings, and lit two Cocos on the burner. If anything, managing heat for Tangiers with the Mini is easier. I placed the Cocos gingerly on the edge at first, only to find that I was getting no smoke. Since I was feeling invincible, I threw caution to the wind and plopped them down, across from each other, directly over the shisha. There was mild harshness as the bowl heated, but that didn't last long. What followed were respectable plumes of thick, flavorful smoke. I was awestruck: no muss, no fuss - just plop the coals down and go. With my small I had to watch the heat like a hawk, but the Mini and I share a bond that cannot be broken. We are soul mates, and we are sure to take great care of each other.

The only downside is that I noticed a significant drop in flavor after a while. This could be that because the bowl is more shallow, the coals heat more shisha at a time. What was left at the bottom wasn't crispy, and there was still flavor to be had, but there was a drop. Not a deal-breaker by any means, but it is worth noting.

Overall, was the wait worth it? Did all those months spent in pants-wetting anticipation pay off? Oh yes. Will I still say "MINI PHUNNEL WOO!" every chance I get? You bet. This, this is my favorite bowl.

It occurred to me that none of this would have been possible without IV. I thanked him when he called Eric and got the ball rolling. I thanked him when he sent me the quote. I thanked him when the bowls came in. I thanked him when one member discouraged him. All of this, and I still don't feel like I have thanked him enough. I don't feel like I could ever thank him enough. This is, to my understanding, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and I am honored to be a part of it. So, from the very bottom of my hookah-fueled heart, IV, thank you. The bowls are beautiful, and even my relatively noob friends were instantly aware of just how cool the Minis are, not only aesthetically but also in their functionality. You have made a lot of people very happy, man, and I will always hold your name with the highest reverence. Keep on keepin' on, IV. You are the best.

MINI PHUNNEL....WOOOO!

Hojo man you just made a brown man blush. Thank you for your kind words and the love makes it all worthwhile. the fact that I could contribute back brings this sense of accomplishment and reimbursement for all the knowledge and experience.

As far as the flavor dropping. It is something to be worked with. I've gotten my method to the point where it is phenom. Flavor and density until most if not all is crispy.

Got mine yesterday! The indigo is amazing.

Sad thing is that it was sitting outside my parent's house for hours and no one knew sad.gif so by the time it was brought to me, I was already smoking out of my small. But it will be properly broken in today with some guava!
