MAC<> You wear very tight pants, carry a "messenger bag", hang out at coffee places or listen to Death Cab for Cutie, do not know much about computers, don't play much WOW, and love the environment

OR

You don't give a shit, like a computer you don't have to do shit with, don't have to take care of, runs for a good while.

PC<> You know everything possible about computers, you love upgrading and customizing, you are a website developer, you may or may not play TONS of Wow, you are or were an IT guy for awhile.

OR

You play tons of Wow, watch tons of porn, and hate people who own Macs.

i would never own a mac. i admit they are good for video and pics but you can easily build a pc(for way cheaper) that will equal the ability and give you a much wider functionality. i personally use a emachine with windows xp ultimate by johnny. its the best of everything and if i really have an itch to try something new or run proprietary software i just load up vmware and make a ghost partition with that operating system.

I have a mac. an old one but still one. i love the fact that they rarely have problems. it just takes a little bit to learn how to get around on one. really no big deal. not hard at all. but i like pc's for other reasons also. so it's really a toss up.

heh, I own a mac, i don't wear tight pants, i don't have a messenger bag (though I do have a laptop bag that i use as a bookbag), i don't hang out at coffee places, and I hate death cab for cutie. I know enough about computers to get by, but thats about it, I have never played WOW in my entire life, I don't even have a desire to, and I love parts of the environment, but not all.

But, I don't really give much of a shit, i don't like having to fuck with my laptop crashing every month, and like computers that last.

To tell you the truth, even though my mac runs a shit load better than my last laptop (which was a HP), I still think i would rather have a windows based laptop, providing it is on XP and not vista or windows 7. Even though macs don't crash, they are still a pain in the ass and are not very fast.

to me a pc is to a mac as a hookah is to a cig

sure the cig is convenient and provides a quick fix but the hookah is a lot better but easy for someone who dose not know what they are doing to mess up,

I dont let ppl touch my hookah and i sure as hell dont let ppl touch my pc.

Damn skippy there too..

I mean, everyone ragged on AOL, but are macs any different? They both did the same thing. Make something that is natively complex, into a dumbed down version that a greater majority can use. So, what do you do? You limit choices, freedoms, and control every single aspect of it, so that it there can be no variations on how to use this simplified device, so it'll work. I dunno about you, but I do not like being told what to do with a product I buy. Its mine, and I can do so as I wish. Macs do not offer that flexbility, but PCs do. Does this open it up for more problems? Sure.. but if you do research, and buy quality components, then you will have a great experience.

To this day I have had 1 virus get me, and that was because it was back in like 96, when viruses were very rare, unless you got that copy of decent that I did, and there really wasn't much in the way of AV on Dos 6.11....

I put Macs up there with Bose really. Sure, they look nice, and do what they do well given their physical size. but you get ripped off on the price, they really don't peform all the well in comparison to their price range, and you are locked into a closed, proprietary system that limits your choices and uses. This is why when I bought Bose's then top of the line Lifestyle 50 home theater for 4g's, I returned in the very next day. It sounded nice in their acoustically perfect display room, but when you bring it home, what are you stuck with? A shitty dvd player, completely made out of plastic, that only did DD 5.1 and no dts. A system so underpowered you had to turn it up to 75% to get to normal listening volume. There was no way to upgrade, or expand the capabilities of the system. So back it went, and I scored me a Marantz receiver, with B&W speakers, and Definitive Tech 18" sub for about the same price. I've upgraded it since then, but that initial system gave me more power, better quality, and many many more options.

Was it easier to use? of course not. It required some learning, and patience on my part, but its not that bad, and is worth the learn. Macs are the same way to me.

I prefer choice, and not getting assraped on price. I mean, who give a shit if you get a mac and dual boot windows. There is nothing the mac can do that the pc can't, but there is MANY things the PC can do that the mac can't.

Fuck your expose', and fuck your stupid goddamn finder bar, that hides applications from me when I try and close them, but they really don't. I don't need a bunch of damn eye candy prettying it all up for me, to make it seem like I'm getting this better than sex experience when I'm not. I need function, not transparent windows. To clarify the part where I said "Was it easier to use? of course not. It required some learning, and patience on my part, but its not that bad, and is worth the learn. Macs are the same way to me."

I mean that macs are the same to me, as easy to use, not as much oomph vs. pcs that have a higher learning curve, but will give you far better quality for the price.

when i built my laptop it cost me 1200 for a top of the line lenovo t61 with better specs than a 2400 dollar macbook pro. i didn't want a 17" screen to get the best spec'd laptop either.

the pc i built cost me exactly a grand and was better spec'd than the top of the line macbook.

But still used lolWindowslol.

Macs are VERY overpriced, but I'll die before I get 6 gigs of RAM to accompany another piece of shit in a box known as Windows.

Windows 7 has been out for a month and people are already fucking annoyed with it. What's that saying?

Well, I went from using a PC to mac, I've been using mac for almost a year now, only a few months away. I'm not a gamer. I use my laptop for school, office (word, excel, powerpoint, access), music, and porn.

I like the mac because it has not crashed yet. It is easier to navigate and use. I have VMware installed and sometimes do the dual screen (mac on one side, windows on the other screen). I like not having to worry about viruses.

BUT, in the next week or two, i will be converting back to PC. I'm done with mac. First, mac has one speed, if you stay under that one speed, you are fine, it is faster than a PC, but if you try go over it, oh no, mac says fuck you, your waiting. So, mac can handle lower speeds better, but PC can handle higher speeds better.

Second, NOTHING is compatible with mac. I mean nothing. Last week, I was trying to take one of my online quizzes and the university uses a thing called uTest secure browser. Guess what...its not compatible with mac. So, at like midnight, i have to have a quiz done and t wont work on my mac, so I go down to the computer lab and get a $50 parking ticket for parking in a fire lane for 10 min. my university is gay, but this would have not happened if I had a PC.

Third, it is a bitch having to dual boot any time i want to use MS office.

I like the mac interface, but after seeing Windows 7, it looks like microsoft has once again stolen from mac, lol.

I use Windows and Linux...between the two, I can do anything and there is a good chance that Linux has a free software package for what I want (PCB design and other CAD software mostly). Since I'm pretty familiar with Linux, using a Mac from a terminal isn't that hard, though it just lacks some options. I'm not entirely against Macs as machines, though they are over priced - they don't really bring much else to the table that Windows/Linux machines don't already do (both hardware and software wise), it's more that the fanboys make me want to take their precious Mac and shove it where the sun don't shine.

I really like the Linux OS I enstalled on my Pc. That has been a life saver, plus I don't have to deal with blue screens of death, viruses, and periodically backing up hard drives. Nor do I have to pay for the OS only to find out that it sucks.

Can't you guys tell that I'm a Windows hater?

(I tried to edit my original post but the forum wouldn't give me the option to. That explains the double post)
^^^Btw Love the comparisons between Linux, Mac, and Pc. They are funny, and true for the most part.

Apple has a tendency to suck, and so does Microsoft, at least for me they do.
