Coco Nara Allergy Question

Recommended Posts

can someone with coconut allergy smoke using coco naras? My new girl is allergic to coconut, and i just ordered 3 boxes of coco naras, does anyone know of someone in this situation?

I know there's a mixed bag with reactions to shishas and their flavors(mango & peach allergies cited on this forum), but have never thought about an allergy to the coals.

I was thinking about doing the scratch test like they do at the doctor, just to be safe... cut a tiny little scratch into her arm/back and rub some in to see if it puffs up since skin reactions are much milder than ingestion or inhalation would be. might be a good way to test for people whose allergies are in question.

Well... that's a new one to me. I'm not doctor, but I'd imagine that because you don't take in any noteworthy (to my knowledge) fumes from coconut coals she should be OK. Also, she's probably allergic to some chemical present in coconuts and who knows if it 's even present in the part of the coconut used to make coals, let alone if it would survive the coconut rinds being processed into charred little squares.

Still, it's best to err on the side of caution when allergies are concerned. Might wanna ask a doctor (though they'd probably only be able to bullshit you), or at least ease into smoking it a little at a time.

i wouldn't. i remember reading a review of someone who was allergic to mango having an allergic reaction to mango flavored tobacco. she could have a similar reaction. Edited by Doubon

I would be very careful with that. It is probably a small risk, but cocos are made directly with coconut products, unlike flavors which are not made with their constituent parts (i.e. mango shisha is not made with mango fruit). I am not a doctor, but I would say try rubbing them on your skin before you smoke them. If there is a reaction there, definately do not smoke them. If there is no reaction, smoke them, but keep an Epi-Pen handy!

I doubt it. Coco Nara's aren't made from the coconut pulp but the shell. Also it's not like the coals are gonna get eaten and the fumes [if any] you inhale I don't think will trigger a reaction. However like they say "better to be safe than sorry...."

Lets us know how it goes for future reference wink.gif Edited by AzZ

well, she decided to try them... with benedryll(sp?) in hand, and there were no ill effects from smoking with the coconaras, even after someone tipped the hookah and burned the rug, the coals and bowl were still quite smokable for quite a while, but i'll be posting my rewiews on that later.
