Hookava Lounge

Traveling to Reno for a few days I had to find a lounge since I wasn't got to hassle with carrying a hookah on a plane.

So I found online, Hookava - http://www.hookava.com/

The site said it was hidden but worth the hassle to find.

After confusing a Taxi driver of 15 years in Reno on where we wanted to go. We got Close. Walking through a parking garage of a condemened looking hotel, Reno Rivera and coming out on the other side we found it.

Walking in it was drapped in what I consider typical lounge decor...slight middle eastern flair. My wife and I didn't get carded at all for hookah or alcohol. I guess I just expect it, especially since my wife got carded by every security gaurd in the casino.

Tobacco was all Hookah Hookah and coals where unsure but the bags looked like Al Ajad when I glanced into the back. Hookahs look like cheap chinese knock offs. Oh and 3 bucks for ICE...WTF!

Two tables over where 3 hip-hop wannabe ganster white boys blasting really bad rap videos on their phone, when I asked to turn it off because it was clashing with lounges music they gave me attitude and the lounge owners knew them and did nothing.

Then came time for new coals. Waitress scrapes the old coals off with the new ones..pushing ash into the bowl, making it 100% unsmokable after that. Seeing as we were one of three tables, we were treated like the place was overpacked, bad service.

Their Tag Line is "Reno's Premier Hookah Lounge" ...what a sad state Reno must be in for that line to be used.

1/10 Glad I got a little smoke a little hookah on my trip but the best thing about the place was leaving and finding an awesome Tea House across the street!!!! If I go to Reno again, I am bringing my bambino. Edited by Stuie

Hahaha... I happen to be living in Reno right now... I'm a Vegas kid, but I'd much rather attend UNR than UNLV....

Anyway, if you're looking for Hookah in Reno, the only place I've been to is a small joint called Art Dogs & Grace (we just call it Art Dogs though). If I recall correctly, it's $12 for the first bowl (up to two flavors mixed), the price for consecutive bowls decreasing. Ice is $1.00, as is Altoids. I haven't ever, ever heard anything spectacular about Hookava.

I wouldn't say Reno's the dirtiest town I've ever been to. South Reno is actually quite nice (similar to Summerlin in Vegas).

It is, however, annoyingly windy here and there isn't anything to do at night if you're under 21, because stuff actually closes here. This is overwhelmingly frustrating for people who grew up in Vegas...

Actually, Exotic Exhale Hookah Lounge is opening up April 1st, and not only we use the real Magdy Zidan AND Khalil Ma'moun but we also serve STARBUZZ, FUMARI, and AL -Fakher Tobacco. So what more can you ask? Okay fine, we offer to serve funnel bowls as well. How's that for an exotic smoke and exotic clouds??? wink.gif
Make sure to check us out. 961 West 5th Street Reno, NV 89503
