Finally, I've broke down... im smoking in my room, and my parents have no idea what a hookah is. I mentioned it twice aroud them, and they didnt ask, and its too cold to go outside tonight, so i decided fuck it, ill smoke in my room. Ive come to terms that they will find out about it this summer, so wish me luck!

just gonna throw this out there, but uh...talk to your parents about it. you're of the age where you can make your own decisions. if they don't want it in/around the house, respect that. but i have a feeling your parents won't mind if you do it outside.

i did that myself not too long ago, now i do it sumwat regularly,

it helps that i live upstairs which they basically never go up becuz they are old. smoke near a window, place a fan nearby pointing out the window, and one pointing more at you, but still out the window.

You should talk to about it sooner. What you're doing in your room could potentially damage their house.

My parents have seen me do it a couple of times, and while they don't like smoking cigarettes, they've never come up to me like its a problem.

But now that I'm moving back home (job market sucks), I'm probably in the same predicament. My parents don't know I own one, or that I smoke regularly.

I would let your parents know before they find your hookah when your not home etc and assume your using it for illegal substances.
You could start it by leaving a tin of tabbaco on the kitchen counter and your parents will probably ask what it is and you can go from there

honestly the best way to handle it is just mention it one day that you smoke hookah and be like i know you guys probably don't like the idea but I'll explain it. Then draw out a little sketch showing them what it is, and what it does. Explain that you're only using it for the flavored smoke and you'd rather be honest about it than try to hide it.

They'll probably respect that.

my mom just recently came into the world of hookahs after a long discussion of what shisha is and how I stay away from NHT.
She smoked cigarettes around me for 18+ years so she was very open minded after she understood what it was and what I was doing, I think most people's fear is ignorance and understanding, once they understand they are ok with it and sometimes curious to try it.

didnt go that well for me im afraid she's still very suspicious that i might be doing nht and keeps telling me "if i find out you're smoking something other than tobacco out of tht thing, i'll report you to the police myself" and my dad also read one of those bullshit WHO reports that 1 hour of hookah is equivalent to 200 cigarettes..

I remember when I bought my Hafa. My mother saw it lying under my bed, and completely freaked out. She had no idea what it was, or even if it was legal, and she was worried that it was used for nht. After a LONG (like two hours) talk she finally came to terms with it. She does not want me to smoke it while my family is around, since she's afraid that my little brother (who pretty much wants to do everything I do) would want to smoke it too. So I don't smoke when they're at home (unless I take my hookah to the woods, this I'll do a lot when summer kicks in).

Just got some Tangiers Cool Strawberry, and it kinda sucks to see it spend so much time alone in it's lock&lock-box.

same here! except my parents knew it was a hookah, knew i smoked it because i told them before i bought one that ive been smoking hookah for a couple of months. they dont want me smoking it around my siblings though and i cant smoke it inside unless my mum is ina good mood.

Don't know if it would help but I waited till my mother was loaded from a long night of drinking at some dinner party. She kept thinkin it was for "other things" since she claimed that when she was growing up, that was all it was ever used for. I told her I only smoked shisha out of it, but I dono if she believed me, but then again I don't know if she really cared cause she really likes to stress around me and my sister that she "was a product of the 70's" whenever the subject of our conversation gets into one of those really awkward topics and she doesn't actaully want to give an answer.

I first got a Hookah when I was 19 and by that time my parents couldn't really say anything. Infact my mom loved it and my dad thought it was Hilarious, and couldn't understand the attraction to smoking fruit flavoured delights. And Now my whole house smells like I spray fruit flavoured air freshener on everything because of all the Hookah smoking that goes on in my living room.

yup...that's what my parents were like. i had my hookah chilling in my trunk for a while when i first got it, just because i always smoked it out. but once they found it, i explained it to them, and they're chill with my smoking outside. but yeah, after smoking a mix of kpeach and peach iced tea, and them both smelling the lovely flavors, they both gave it a try and liked it a lot. not enough to smoke by themselves, but now whenever i'm outside they'll come chill with me for a bit, take a couple hits...it's pretty righteous. just have to talk to them and get them to understand what's going on.
