Steampunk Hookah

Recommended Posts

I just got back from Coachella and I'm Steampunk crazy. I know a lot of people out there have some homemade hookahs, so i was wondering if anyone as attempted to make one in steampunk fashion. I think it would be sick and I have some ideas on the design. anyone else have ideas ?

No idea of how to build it, but can't wait to see it! Must have gears/clockwork, something on it! And you simply must wear your goggles when smoking... laugh.gif

My initial ideas are to use a lot copper piping over an existing pipe so it's functional without any weird taste repurcutions and to build a wooden base around the vase. i'm still trying to work out gears or knobs.

Brass will probably find its way on to it but i think the copper tubing with dirty silver welds and a little tarnished is what i want.

if you want it to have the dark brown tarnish and not the green patina make sure you clean off all the flux you used on the solders, after a bout a week or 2 you start to get a little green if you didnt clean it off well. also unless you sandblast or polish it up in some way when you are done your going to have very uneven tarnish for a while. just heads up

but yes i like the idea of copper over brass

Hello everyone! this is my first post on this forum. I actually have made a steampunk hookah, for those of you un-familiar with the steampunk "look" these photos should help.

The hookah has a glass bowl, cycles from underneath to the bubbler tube and into the top chamber. There is a ball valve atop the device so a simple blow through the hose will purge any harsh smoke through the exhaust pipe (looks pretty cool too). The bowl arm detaches and an inner "trap" will catch the heated molasses to prevent it from gumming up the whole system. The mouthpiece conveniently rests in a holder on the side to keep it tidy and clean. The entire apparatus disassembles for cleaning. You can actually put the parts (minus the hose and base) into the dishwasher for a complete cleaning. The vapor chamber will be equipped with a light source very soon.

Cleaning would be a beotch.
And as much as i dont want to doubt anyone, it just doesnt seem like its a fully functioning pipe.

It actually breaks down in to three main parts that are very easy to clean. You can even put them in the dishwasher.

As far as it being a fully functional pipe... it was a hit at news years.
