It all depends on the bowl for how many a time..If I cut up my QL's.. Its just in half.. no more othewise they die in like 20 minutes XD. I use Al Amrousi or Soltans.. Soltans rock.

i had some boxes of soltan coals 2 years ago, but they all had little "rocks" in them, like nours. and i couldn`t light them without a gasstove/hotplate.

I have my own coals, that just rock, they stay hot for about an hour per pc....but here is the deal..and let me tell you it sucks..
I bought through a middle man, he disappeared so I only have about 250 lbs now left, no point to put on market until I can actually sell it for a long time..I hate it b/c they are the best all natural coals I have smoked with..
went camping/fishing, brought diamamonte(never used before), they suck..the worst flavor I have ever gotten..
I would say silver Japanese were great before I found my own..

I use natural coal. Nours or Coco Nara's. Usually two cubes of coco's on my standard bowl. With Nour's i usually use about half or 3 quarters of a stick then break it into smaller bits which I put around the edges of the bowl.

I use exoticas currently.

i wanna try the coco-nara's and i bet the tom's cocobrico are about the same but they are super cheap!

unfortunately they are across the pond.

I use Belgian naturan coals they are great. Burn real slow so you get a long time out of them and dont get overly hot. I've used the golden coals too they are good for quick lights. The belgian QL's are just as good.

I dont have much of a preference. Currently in stock I have 3Kings, Unprocessed natural olive charcoal, cococha, generic Jap-style charcoals, and Nours

For Tangiers I prefer to use naturals, since I can always find some smaller pieces from the bottom of the bag. The Tom's Cococha are really good, BUT they're frikkin too large! I have to cut them in half, which is a pain, since they're cube-shaped. Tom's also manufacture cocobrico, I dont know if they're smaller?

Use 3Kings when I'm smoking a bowl and the coal dies and I can't be arsed to go to the stove smile.gif

My perfect solution, buy some coco-whatevers and a small filipino boy to cut them into the right shape. Find a small one, preferably one that can fit into the Mya QT cage. wink.gif

We like to use naturals from actual wood we use for bonfires. No taste or anything. They are excellent and free. =]

Depends on what I can get locally. Golden while I'm up at school and Ahkla if I'm home.

What's with all the Diamante heat? I've never really had a "bad" diamante experience per se, and I have to admit I like them the best, way more than any QL I've ever used.

I really think you must be getting the generic 3 kings ripoff because I think in all my times using 3 Kings, which is quite a good bit of coals, at least 4-500 I'd say, I've only ever had 1 explode on me, and it wasn't really even an explosion rather than it just sorta went poof and split into 3 pieces... which I put on the hookah anyway and it worked fine.

For quicklights Im a fan of 3K all the way.

As for naturals, I haven't really had much experience for those, but the ones I did have worked fine, they just... smelled funky Edited by jordanneff
