Hey guys.

I'm in Virginia Beach, and the closest bar (that me and my friends know of at least) is Lazy Dayz up in Hampton. It's not too bad of a drive, but we've been wondering if there are any other bars closer to the Virginia Beach area.

And as a side question, we have a 17 year old friend who's turning 18 in a couple months. We want to bring him along with us to a bar, but we aren't sure if he's legal or not. I read on Wikipedia that it's a common misconception that 18 is the legal age to smoke in hookah bars and that it's actually 17; it varies from bar to bar.

So, does anyone know how it is in Virginia, or better yet, Lazy Dayz specifically?

Thanks in advance smile.gif

18 is the legal age for any bar that serves normal shisha tobacco. If you can find a bar that serves Soex tobacco free herbal shisha only (we have one around here,) the age limit might be as low as 16. Personally, I don't think you should bring your friend. Serving minors can get a hookah bar shut down, and you don't want to be a part of that. Edited by Ralleac

Welcome to the Empty Hookah Wasteland that is Hampton Roads. I'm in Norfolk and there isn't any other Hookah Lounges this side of Richmond that I found (other than Lazy Dayz).

I know where most of the good shops are to get thing on the southside, so if you need to know where to find something, give me a yell.

And the legal age to purchase tobacco and related products is 18 - anything less and the both the person SELLING and BUYING risk legal trouble. Due to the wack bumm laws in this state, you may not even be ABLE to bring your friend to Lazy Dayz. Would you risk the only hookah lounge in the area, just to smoke? The Owner of LD is here on HF, but I don't remember his screenname. You could try calling them and ask?

Why are you trying for the Hookah bar? Just smoke at home, no worrys and alittle more fun. Edited by lazria

There are at least two bars on our side of the water, one of which does not serve alcohol so it is doubtful that they would card for hookah. They did not for us. It is on Colley Ave in Norfolk, depending on where you live in VA Beach, can't be more than 20 minutes from you.

I know it is across from Azar's, I believe it was called Nazef. Look it up, we went last weekend, it is cool. They have a dining section, a deli style side, and a hookah area. All in one. I saw plenty of people who were barely of age if even in there. I am sure they don't take it so serious knowing there won't be stupid drunks running amok in there. Even Azars offers hookah, but as they are a restaurant first, they are probably more strict.

I know of another at the beach, but I think they serve alcohol there, so it is probably more of a restaurant setting. Never been so I can't speak on it.

lazy days is a ripoff!!!! dont go.
they dont know what they are doing. crappy service overall.
the one time i went to try it bc my friends live around the bend they gave us 1 coal and told us that there was a limit as to how long we could smoke. they also force you to buy a drink and if you want water you have to buy a bottle of it. they also have leaky rotators so halfway through the session you need to get your base filled. that place eats it.

theres places in norfolk that are more worthwhile because the atmosphere is goo.

There is a hookah lounge in virginia beach, Nimbus Hookah Lounge. It's at kempsville and providence road over by the yukon steakhouse and greatwall (some chinese resturant). You do have to be 18 though. They can't sell tobacco to minors or even just let them smoke.

It's not middle eastern themed or anything but they have a lot of flavors. The use Fumari, Starbuzz, Al Fakher and Nahkla. Nahkla is the only brand I'm not too impressed with but the rest are good. They are some laid back ass people too, just a nice small business, I had a good time there.

Type at yall later.

when was it that you went? they don't use rotators anymore at Lazy Dayz.
and as far as the coal thing: you only need one QL at a time for those bowls that they use.

sorry that you weren't pleased with the service. i'll talk to Jay. but let me just say this: they DO know what they are doing. i go up there and ask those guys for advice all the time and it helps out a lot. they're always helpful and never let me down.

i've been to one of those on Colley (i think it was Nazef) and the environment was pretty chill, but the hookahs were teh suck. i think an easy purge on a hookah is half of what makes it a good hookah. My wife, some friends and i went there and our hookah was overpacked with Nakhla (the only brand they have). i tried to purge it, but the valve was stuck and wouldn't come unstuck. so they gave us a new one and the purge valve worked, but it took forever to purge it all out. and the smoke wasn't very thick because the hoses were so narrow.

but that isn't what put me off. the thing that irritates me the most is that even though we got one hookah, they charged us for every person who smoked. talk about a ripoff. they are giving you the same amount of tobacco, but charging you for a different price depending on who comes with you. that, to me, makes no sense at all and if anyone else gets as irritated at that as i do, then i suggest against going there.

otherwise, it was a pretty chill environment and authentic-looking. it had a middle-eastern type channel on the tv with these weird music videos. pretty neat.

as to the being charged for a drink at LZ, its just like a cover charge, there are plenty of people that go in and dont smoke or go and smoke for like 10 mins then just chill out they are trying to run a business. as to the not letting you stay a long time, ive never seen or heard of that happening but i assume the reason would have been some one had made a reservation for a very large group so they had to honor that reservation. the place is really small they can have like 40 people in there max due to fire code and people like to chill out for a while, its not like saharas up here in richmond which is just poop in a bucket, but they have like 2-3 times the seating and people stay for much shorter time.
