Alternative Review Format

My suggestion is for an additional thread in the Reviews forum called "Reviewers" or some such title. When I'm reading vendor and especially product reviews, I don't know if the reviewer is an easy or hard marker, whether they prefer sweet, spicy, or otherwise for tobacco, if they're allergic to quicklite charcoal, or etcetera. My suggestion would entail the creation of threads for specific users who have posted 10+ reviews, which only they can post in to add reviews of additional products and vendors.

If I know that HookahSmoker3572 rated El Nahklha Cappuccino a 6/10, Starbuzz Cappuccino an 8/10, and Tangiers Cappucino an 8.5/10, and I've tried at least one of those, it gives much more meaning to the other ratings. If he/she rates Tangiers Kashmir Peach a 4/10 because he/she does not care for spicy flavours, I can take that into consideration as well. Etc. etc. etc.

I can try creating a thread in the review section, but I think your apprach is probably the best, read a bunch of the person's reviews to get a feel for their likes and dislikes. I'll see what I can do a bit later.

It really wouldn't even require effort from members, if mods were so inclined to parse individual reviews from highly active reviewers into comprehensive, individualized threads, would it?

I haven't written any reviews yet because I'm waiting to get my camera back from the shop (I sat on the stupid thing at a party shortly after joining this forum), and I don't believe in half-assing, but once I have it back I'll be happy to create a pioneer-thread of 15 or 16 reviews.

Different people will review the same product with great discrepancy... I think that the only truly useful format for reviewing is to offer people the opportunity to relate to the reviewer. For example, I trust www.Joblo.com for movie reviews because JoBlo gave American Psycho, my all-time favourite flick, the only 10/10 rating until 300 came along. I trust my favourite music reviewer at www.threeohsix.com because they love Kings of Leon and Silversun Pickups, and tend to relate things to the stuff I grew up on: Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, The Tea Party, etc. Edited November 19, 2007 by gaia.plateau

Then again, the mod's generally have better things to do than seperate and classify people's reviews. We have enough trouble keeping the place spam free and running smooth. Remember that we all DO have real jobs and semi real lives and only Moderate as a way to give back to the community.

Just remember to follow the posting rules for the review sections as we are rather strict in that area.
Please keep your reviews in the given brand's threads and don't start any new threads, ask a mod if there is a brand you need a thread for.

The search engine does that, with the exception of listing the amount of reviews a certain user name has done

search
search options
enter a username in "search by user name"
display results as posts
and select the category of product reviews or any sub category
