spongle?

Actually, I think that's "shpongle" wink.gif

I enjoy them alot too; compared to Infected, I would say they are more organically trippy (less "psy") and not as full-on fast paced songs overall.
Might I suggest to anyone interested in Shpongle / Infected to also check out, Astral Projection, Chemical Brothers, 1200 Micrograms as well. They are all very "psy" type music but with more of an upbeat tempo.

I absolutely fkn LOVE their new album. With that being said, I started listening to them a few years back, and love all their older stuff as well.

LS1 FTW -
What I really don't like is their new album, track 2 "Artillery." The complete breakaway from their traditional style (and goa/psy in general) to produce a song that sounds like a mix of rap and electronica. It's one of the reasons I like IM is that they dont sing alot because that's not what psy is about. And each new album seems it has more of these type of tracks where the vocals are becoming more integral to their performance. That said, I do have some tracks on Vicious Delicious that I do like, but it is different from the days of B.P. Empire where the whole album was my favorite.

sublime, the doors, the doors, sometimes zepplin, the occasional dimmu borgeir (sp?), the faint, the decemberists.

Wow Dimmu Borgir while trying to relax?! Kudos to you man, that would only elevate my heart level more and would cause me to get extra hyper laugh.gif

Dude, I can sleep to Dimmu if I wanted lol. With that being said, I have also been known to go into fits of extreme driving (see the "Whats your ride" thread) that usually involve weaving in and out of traffic at 120+ while listening to Dimmu or similar music. In Flames for the motha fkn win. They're my favorite metal band of all time.

Clex - I have some Shpongle, and I like most of it. Haven't found any Astral Projection. Artillery is one of my favorite songs on the album, along with Heavyweight and Suliman. I have a VERY wide variety of taste though...I listen to stuff off Overclocked Remix (Nintendo music remade in techno form) from time to time. I tend to like some of the more vocal trance music as well.

I listened to alot of Shpongle and found them to be pretty good. Still looking for Arabic or even Egyptian if you want to get more into it.

Also, perhaps if you guys know any groups like Massive Attack or Juno Reactor.

my "hookah music" playlist on my iPod:
Anant Jesse's "Mantrica" album
the more mellow songs from Yngwie Malmsteen's "Rising Fury" album
a few Ravi Shankar songs
"Pasties and a G-String" by Tom Waits
"Gates of Babylon" by Rainbow [always sets the mood for hookah.]
"Egypt" by Doro Pesch
"Number of the Beast" by Zwan
"Main Theme" from A Clockwork Orange
some David Bowie & Jethro Tull for good measure
and don't forget a healthy dose of Iron & Wine.

Where can one purchase Spongle/Schpongle CDs at? I looked on eBay and found one and then I looked at Overstock and amazon and found none.

Edit: I found them used on Amazon.com

And the local CD store has copies of them... for 25 bucks a piece USED! blink.gif Edited by ghostofdavid

Massive Attack is always a quality choice. Good call on that, my friend.
I'm more traditional...can't seem to handle smoking to music with words (chanting is different). I usually throw on Hookah Cafe. But you can only listen to that so many times. I've got a huge Ravi Shankar collection, so when I throw that on, at least one of my roomies says, "Hey, uh...you wanna set up the hookah, dude?" Edited by ReverieForest

Being a guitar player and all, some good instrumentalists I usually listen to while smoking it up with pals are Guthrie Govan (HIGHLY RECOMMEND, he's so good it's rediculous), Eric Johnson, Richie Kotzen and lately for the band music Alice in Chains.

I usually can't enjoy the music though with everybody talking over it anyways though.
