  1. Drunk Posting

Testing this here...didn't want to lose the information since I can't seem to make a topic and didn't want to just let this go. Guess you could say this is a "drunken ramble" when it really isn't but hey...this site is broken so f*ck it. I know this place is dead but thought if some of the old members came around here looking for new content, it would be cool to see what you guys would say. I'll try to link the articles I've come across but for some reason, they aren't in my history any more. So I always had a suspicion that tobacco smoke would effect the microbes in our gut. Turns out, I was on the right path, just not much research done on what strains it kills. It shows that if you have any sort of irritable bowel, crohns, or colitis, you should avoid tobacco smoke for it makes it worse. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/26981632 (this one actually says smoking is beneficial to ulcerative colitis...surprisingly, but horrible for those with IBS and Crohns) https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24636140 ( In addition, smoking is associated with a distinct alteration in the intestinal microbiota both in patients with active Crohn's disease and healthy subjects. ) I added the emphasis. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3432200/ (this one talks about epigenetics and methylation. If you aren't up on the newest trends in research, epigenetics is how our genes are expressed, namely, you can change your genetic expression...either for the good...or the bad. The biggest movement right now is learning about MTHFR and all these genetic variants that come along with it and you can get yourself tested at 23andme.com but would be good to give that data to a practitioner who can put that raw data into a program which uses algorithms to tell you what is going on based on your genetics and what you can do to positively effect them. MTHFR and the variants refers to ones ability to methylate, or in other terms, detox. While I know I'm in the minority about vaccines and not giving them, if you *are* vaccinating your children or yourself, you really need to get tested for MTHFR. There is a high correlation between this genetic mutation and autism, brain damage, or other damage in the body after vaccination. Don't play russian roulette with you and your family, get tested so you know if your little one's bodies have the ability to remove the toxins included in vaccines. Anyways, this is talking about how it can disrupt the genes involved in methylation, switching those bad methylating genes *on*, leading to disaster in the body, not just in terms of the smoke being detoxed out of the body, but *all* things bad that you eat or are exposed to in your environment (Flint, MI anyone?). This is probably one of the more scary studies I've seen in regards to tobacco smoke, imo. I know there have been a few women in here in the past, or the guy's wives who have continued to smoke hookah while pregnant, this is also talking about how you can switch those poor methylation genes on for your child in utero.) That's about it for now. As I find more, I'll post if people are actually interested in this topic and come back and discuss it. Otherwise, this is just for archival purposes for those looking into health concerns in regards to hookah.
  2. This place dun died. :(

  3. What up mane? I see you've last checked in a couple of days ago. How are things going? You hanging out on any other hookah sites?

  4. F/S Tangiers bowls and Few others!

Does that include shipping? I may be interested in the pico and saucer. I love my pico so I'm thinking I'll want to have a back up just in case
  5. Room temp allows you to know quicker whether you are burning your bowl or not, which then can make the bowl last longer and better flavor throughout.
  6. I noticed this when I moved to a smaller, closed room. What I have found to help it is I got a portable air filter and I put it on high while I'm smoking and leave it that way until I no longer smell it. It also helped to keep the door open while the filter was going but that has been tough due to my 1 year old daughter always wanting in that room...so I try to leave it open over night while we are sleeping to move the air around better. Prior to me smoking in the small closed room, I never noticed the smell linger like I do now.
  7. I think most of us are partial to phunnel bowls. What's nice about the phunnel bowls is you can get smaller ones that don't need as much tobacco as the Vortex. So unless you are wanting to always sit down and finish a vortex bowl (I want to say around 35g? iirc, and the pico phunnel is more around 10-15g iirc), I'd go with the phunnel. You can choose your sizes...I have 3, pico, 7ico, and the small. All great for different scenarios.
  8. planning to realize a dream

If you want, you should contact my brother. My brother and his 3 buddies did a documentary where they biked (bicycles) halfway across the country for a summer and couch surfed along the way. He's a filming major so you could ask him what you did...or ask him to come with you as he is into that stuff and would love to do the film and film editing for it. Just let me know and I can get you in contact with him or show you his youtube channel.
  9. Selling off All of My Nakhla Stock - CHEAP

    Dibs.
  10. It could be the quick lites and CO. Are you packing the tobacco up to the foil? It should be touching to reduce the CO (some).
  11. Mattar Merchandising Reviews

Surprised more people aren't buying from him. Great prices, great discounts for bulk buying. Just ordered a crap ton of coals and a few things of nak. Took 3 days to get to me, even in the crap weather he has up there. Very fast at getting the order out after placing it. I'll continue to buy from him!
  12. I also got headaches...but that changed when I started fixing my digestion (mega doses of probiotics from supplements and homemade kefir).
  13. Anyone notice any sort of digestive issues since starting hookah? Including, but not limited to: Heart burn/indigestion/GERD, excessive gas (belching, farting, bloating)  Constipation Diarrhea IBS/Crohns/etc Candidiasis (doubt many here have looked into this though)   I've done some research but I don't think all the research is out there right now, thus why I'm asking for community input. I have a feeling tobacco or nicotine can mess with the gut flora, causing many of the above issues. Some research suggest that it does mess with the beneficial bacteria, which creates worse symptoms in those with IBS but helps those with Ulcerative Colitis. Research also links parents who smoke to colic symptoms in babies (and I know some of you here have kids now, did your child have colic?????) This got me thinking about those of us without those "major issues" and that it may be causing slightly lesser symptoms that we pass off as "normal" (I put normal in quotes as some people think that if something is common, it is normal...it is not).   I'm interested in getting feedback on this and if anything has helped these symptoms (foods, supplements?).
  14. So if you didn't smoke, you'd be constipated? That sounds like a digestive issue to me.
  15. Did your sensitivity start before you started smoking hookah? Like, have you always had this issue since you were a kid? Or did it develop after you started smoking hookah (just like anything, it could have taken months to years to develop depending on your health prior to you starting and your health choices while you've been smoking)?
  16. Quite sad how dead this site has become due to adrock not fixing the search engine issue.

I don't block shit. You'd have to talk to Adrock about all that.

I'm just saying what I do on my site. If the bot agent isn't defined in the ACP, they will show up as guests on the site, making us think that there are actually humans browsing.

  17. I believe the One just dropped the price to $350. MS is running a deal where you can trade in a 360 for $100 towards a One...thus making the One $250!   I'm quite impressed with the One. I use it mostly as a media device. Only got it for the Master Chief Collection but am happy with the media abilities (supports MKV file format and with my set up, I can now stream my shows from my computer to the One without having to transfer to an external and hook it up to my WDTV Live like I've been doing).
  18. Looking For Hookah

Yeah, my wife and I do. Haven't dove in quite a while though. I think the last time was in the Virgin Islands about 4 years ago I think.
  19. Current One

lol I didn't scroll down all the way and I thought that your hose was a dildo.  This is what I saw:   Right or right? Dildo.   Anyways, nice rig! Definitely sexy!
  20. Looking For Hookah

I'm just north of Jupiter :) In terms of the pull, I liked it. I don't think I was struggling to get a pull but it also wasn't "free". There was some resistance but that's one of those things that doesn't really bother me much. I've had bad hookahs that had terrible draws, and this stem isn't like that. I would say you can test it out when you are in the area but I don't have a base to put it in. If you bring a base that it can fit, then we can try it :)     It does have a fault, though it hasn't effected it. I didn't notice it when I bought it a few years ago but there is a crack at the end of the stem, but the diffuser keeps it together. And there is a crack down the inside of the stem. Both came with it and I couldn't return it :( But did get some good years out of it before I accidentally broke the base.   The above picture is unpolished. I liked the more tarnish look but if you prefer polished, I can polish the bad boy up.
  21. Looking For Hookah

I have a syrian stem. The base broke from a freak accident and I haven't bought a new one.
  22. http://www.latrobe.edu.au/news/articles/2014/release/tobacco-plant-has-key-to-fighting-cancer   Pretty interesting.
  23. Cancer Cure In Tobacco?

lol it's from the flower on the plant...who smokes that?
  24. Anyone claiming non smoking for life insurance? Is there a cut off on how often? And if they do a nicotine blood test, how many days should you not smoke for before doing the test?
  25. I think she thinks your dick is a hose.
