1. Good that you can enjoy the real tobacco. I still enjoy herbal and still buy it too. For me it's just another part of the mix.
2. I'm assuming you don't smoke cigs. If you are smoking alone, you are probably smoking too fast. Make sure your coal is lit all the way. I've only had a problem with this when my coal wasn't fully lit, I was smoking continuously by myself, or I haven't eaten enough that day.
3. I smoked for the first time in 2 weeks yesterday. I didn't finish the bowl. It was nice but by the time I got into it I had to go do more important things. Mon/Wed I'm student teaching from 6am-3pm and Tues/Thurs I work 4pm-12am with a Sunday 2pm-11pm shift. I guess I'm too exhausted to smoke often. It sure does make the tobacco last longer though, I'm no longer breaking the bank buying new packs!
4. Hookah Etiquette

When I bring my hookah to my friend's place on occasion 5-6 will get on it. I only have one hookah but the puff puff pass system works out quite well. People will come and go from the circle and no one really hogs the hose. If someone is talking or wants a few extra puffs no one bitches really. I do make people who are sick sit out or use a plastic tip; otherwise we share germs, lol.
5. Starbuzz tangerine is on the sweet side of fruit for me, I would add something with a bit of spice, mint maybe, or just a bit of cardamom sounds good actually.
6. Ramadan Journal

I thought this would be interesting to add - my husband works in the prisons here, and he told me about how they do Ramadan at the unit. He works at a low security portion of the prison and everyone there is required to have a job in order to stay low security. During Ramadan the inmates do not have to go to work and are allowed to go to recreation all day, though most don't. They are given a special chow time, much later than the normal dinner, but still eat the normal dinner menu with double portions. One guard is assigned to 'work Ramadan' and make sure everyone has been taken care of and they have a special place to pray - normally they are just allowed to pray at their cell. He says a lot of inmates are 'convenient Muslims' and only claim Islam because they want to get off work, but the true believers will often straighten them out by constantly sharing the Quran with them, inviting them to pray etc. He says you can usually tell these kind because they do not pray and think Ramadan is a calendar month and never changes.
That is interesting! Why do they give them double portions? We are not supposed to eat extra because we fasted all day. Yeah, there are a lot of people who use their religions to get by. In the Middle East a lot of maids claim to be Muslims because they get paid higher when in reality they know nothing but how to put a scarf on your head and fake it.
I have no idea tbh, the husband says it's because they are worried about malnutrition. He says the higher up officials don't really try to understand the customs in detail, just provide everyone a chance to practice their faith without major problems.

8. I'm pretty sure when I want a new hookah I will check out the trades forum. Several of y'all seem to be collectors and like rotating 'stock' every now and then. I will be satisfied with one or two and getting something I know smokes well at a good price, while helping out other members is a win-win.
9. Damn. Oh well. I soaked it and used a lot of pipe cleaners.
10. I'm trying to clean this, and every time when I finish cleaning the stem water has collected in the heart and nasty nasty brown crap comes out of it. I've tried unscrewing the stem part as I've seen other hookahs do, but I can't get it to work. I'm not sure if it's stuck or just not made to come apart. Maybe I can get pipe cleaners up the holes in the bottom if I can't break it down. If anyone has advice let me know... I just don't want to break it. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v254/NoKree/heart.jpg
11. Thanks for the tips. I did do the whole tub at a time, and I added slightly more honey than glycerine. I added a few drops of each at a time, stirred and let it sit for 20 mins then repeated as nesscessary. When it looked pretty good, I packed a bowl. The apple taste did diminish a bit but the honey helped keep it sweet I think. It wasn't bad!
12. Thanks a lot y'all, will get some glycerine next paycheck

14. So a friend of ours sent us an opened tub of tobacco, Al Amir Apple. It tastes okay and all, but it wasn't in a bag or anything and the plastic tub isn't very airtight. The tobacco is obviously a bit dry and getting "chunky". Is there any way to revive the moisture in there? Add glycerine or something? I don't want to waste it and trying to smoke it asap, but it's becoming too dry to even do that.
15. Cleaning Advice

Not as long as you rinse it - it'll be fine. It lets the salt act as an abrasive/scrubber. It is only for glass though, I wouldn't use it on anything else.
