2.
Can anyone here verify that any of this is actually true? All I have read so far claiming it to be true is an unknown source in the hookah field claims it to be true.
Yes, I can verify that this is true. There are two documents attached to the article. They are official court papers detailing the lawsuits between Taqseem (Tonic Shisha) and Starbuzz. I've spoken to the owners of Tonic and JM's (two companies who Starbuzz seems to be taking special interest in), and a handful of others who asked that I not mention their names because they don't want to get any more wrapped up in the whole thing than they already are. But all confirmed the letters and verified the rumors. Additionally, if you're talented, you can find the trademarks Starbuzz won and lost on the trademark office's website. I'll see if I can find it again.
 3.
Does anybody know what happened when the article says that Fusion "folded" under Starbuzz's pressure? I assume it just means that they will stop using widespread used flavor names like double apple, guava, and sex on the beach, that Starbuzz is claiming as their own.
I wasn't able to reach Fusion for comment. In fact, I can't even find a wholesale website with contact information. Fusion's 'folding' was some inside information provided by an industry professional who wishes to remain unnamed. I assume it means that instead of going to court, they stopped selling the 'infringing' flavors until they can come up with different names.
 4. I spoke with a member of the hookah industry yesterday (who wishes to remain anonymous) and made some good points that public disapproval is likely the only way to stop Starbuzz actions. US Trademarks can be submitted to customs. When an importer attempts to import something that violates on of those trademarks, the import is rejected. Some of Starbuzz's trademarks could be viewed as a strategic move to minimize brands like AF and Nak. Of course, there's no way to know right now whether Starbuzz has submitted anything to customs yet, but the risk is real. Furthermore, Starbuzz has a huge stock pile of money and they could sit in courtrooms for years without taking a major financial hit. Even if they lose, a year of litigation can run as much as $80,000. How many tobacco manufacturers do you think can afford that kind of money? Even if they win, they might be bankrupt when their finished. Starbuzz's moves are subtle, but could be really dangerous to the consumer. If you can, I suggest hitting up twitter, and Facebook and digg with this stuff. The best thing we can do is first, don't buy Starbuzz products and, second, try and spread the word as fast as possible.
 5. Have you guys heard about this? Starbuzz has filed for a bunch of trademarks. Some of them they've won, others they haven't. They've been sending out cease and desist letters to a bunch of competing tobacco manufacturers, like JM's, Tonic and Fusion, to name a few. I wrote a full article about it on my site, so I won't double up on the content. But here's the link. I think it's worth reconsidering whether we want to give money to a company like this. http://www.hookahreport.com/2010/08/starbuzz-tobacco-files-questionable-trademarks-sends-cease-desist-letters-to-the-competition/
 6.
some places are hookah lounges that also sell retail. Mine did.
Yes, that was also part of the reason I decided to just ask the community. Since often times the ones listed as lounges don't necessarily specify that they're also retail shops. Not to mention, pruning through hundreds of posts to decipher which lounges as well as retail could take many hours that I don't quite have available.

And lastly Smokeys Pipe and Tobacco They carry mostly Hookah Hookah products. and recently started selling Starbuzz as well. I hardly ever go to smokeys. Because they are slightly fail But i used to go there before i knew there was better shisha than Hookah Hookah.
Thanks for finding these. I've added all but the last to the map. I couldn't find that one in Google Maps.
I assume you have gone through this? http://www.hookahforum.com/forum/51-hookah-lounges-and-shops/
I have skimmed through it. But the vast majority are hookah lounges, which I'm not focusing on right now. Plus, it seemed a bit thin anyways since there are quite a lot of good shops in the DC/Virginia area and none of them were listed. So I figured I'd just ask the community since it seems a lot of people wouldn't think to add their findings to the particular forum. But when I get a chance I'll go through that forum more carefully and pull out the good stuff.
Yes, I see the 'watch this topic' button, and on threads that I'm already watching, it says 'stop watching this topic', but I can't for the life of me figure out where it will list those 'watched' topics so that when I come back to the forum I can see what has new replies.
 11. Thanks for digging these up folks! I have added most of these to the map. I'm only adding retailers and cafes with a retail selection to this map since there are already a number of maps focusing on hookah bars. Keep em coming, folks! This map is filling out nicely!
 12.
I looked around and I'm not seeing it anywhere...
That's strange. I don't know how people keep track of threads of conversation without a page like that. I would get lost. In fact, I've been a member here for quite a while but never really got into conversation because I couldn't find that page and didn't know how to stay involved in the discussion. How do other people here do it?
 13.
That's not a feature anymore since the forum upgraded, I believe. I also moved this to a more suitable location.
Hmm. Okay, but there must be some simple way to see the topics that I'm trying to stay up to date with?
 14.

This question may be incredibly basic, but I can't seem to find the subscription panel. I'm probably just looking right over it somehow, but can someone point me in the right direction?
what do you mean by subscription?
I mean the page that displays threads you're subscribed to. On most forums this page is populated with your subscribed threads that have unread replies.
